Kick It California, formerly California Smokers’ Helpline, is a free tobacco cessation program operated by UC San Diego. Learn more about who we are and how we help.
Clinically Proven
Our program protocol focuses on motivation, ambivalence, planning and skill-building. It’s been rigorously tested in several large, randomized trials, and has been shown to double a tobacco user’s chance of quitting.
Culturally Sensitive
We offer coaching in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and Vietnamese. All of our coaches undergo rigorous training and apprenticeships, participate in weekly monitoring and case reviews, and attend continuing education courses on cultural awareness.
Broadly Trusted
We partner with numerous healthcare systems, clinics, and call centers and offer a secure, electronic system for patient referrals. We also provide technical assistance and training for healthcare professionals interested in our empirically-based cessation approaches.
The Asian Smokers’ Quitline (ASQ) offers free telephone counseling, self-help materials, free nicotine patches and online help in four Asian languages (Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Vietnamese) to help you quit smoking. ASQ is operated by the Moores Cancer Center at the University of California San Diego and is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
